Clear Align Laser Systems Engineer

Clear Align is looking for an experienced Laser Systems Engineer to join our rapidly-growing team. Clear Align designs, prototypes and manufactures custom imaging, sensing and fiber optic systems for defense, aerospace and commercial customers. Clear Align’s imaging expertise spans the UV, visible, NIR, SWIR, MWIR, and LWIR portions of the spectrum, delivering both narrow- and wide field-of-view systems. Fiber-optic and sensing expertise includes optical integration for communications, remote sensing and targeting, as well as medical fiber optics.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

• Technically leading development and manufacture of laser-based sensor systems such as laser rangefinders.
• Supporting engineering team in the design and prototyping of highly ruggedized laser-based systems.
• Understanding electro-optics market and key systems related to lasers, focal-plane arrays, imaging systems, night vision, and rangefinding.
• Performing optical testing and providing data summaries, analysis and reports to customers.
• Overseeing mechanical, optical, and environmental qualification of electro-optical sensor systems.
• Being an active member of a fast-paced, hands-on, team-oriented organization where each contributor is expected to excel technically in his/her field of study.

The candidate should have the following attributes:

• 10+ years experience with laser rangefinding.
• Broad experience with
- Image-intensified systems
- SWIR, MWIR and LWIR FPA detectors
- E-O system performance, modeling, and analysis
- Semiconductor lasers
- Diode-pumped solid state lasers
- Nd:YAG systems
- Eyesafe laser rangefinders
• Laser designators
- Lidar/LADAR
- Fiber lasers
• Hands-on experience in design, development, and manufacturing of fiber lasers (both pulsed and continuous wave) and amplifiers.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, including problem identification, analysis, action planning, and execution.
• Good written and verbal presentation skills and a proven ability to analyze data and present results and conclusions.
• Excellent time management, organizational and communication skills.
• A consistent history of setting and meeting technical and timeline objectives .
• An MS or PhD in Optics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics or equivalent.
• U.S. citizenship with the ability to obtain government clearance.
